Resetting and reconfiguring using the Smart Shades app
In the Smart Shades app > Device Settings > Troubleshooting > Reset and Reconfigure Device
Resetting using the nRF Connect app
- Use this method if resetting using the Smart Shades app is not possible
- Download and install the nRF Connect app
- Open the nrfConnect app
- Apply scanning filters and press SCAN
- Device name "S" (or "RISE" if you have pre-2018 model)
- RSSI -45dBm
- Place the phone next to the Smart Shades device you want to reset and select and CONNECT to the device from the list with the biggest RSSI (e.g. RSSI -25 is bigger than RSSI -30)
- Select service with ID 00001890-B87F-490C-92CB-11BA5EA5167C from the list
- You have to swipe to the right on the connected devices screen on iOS to see the list of services and characteristics
- You may need to disconnect and reconnect in case the characteristics list is not populated
- You have to swipe to the right on the connected devices screen on iOS to see the list of services and characteristics
- Select the UP ARROW on characteristic with ID 00001891-B87F-490C-92CB-11BA5EA5167C
- Write value
- Android: 0x51 as BYTE and press SEND button
- iOS: 81 as UINT8 and press Write button
- DISCONNECT from the device if not disconnected automatically
- After resetting using the nRF Connect app, use the Smart Shades app to reconfigure the device: open Device Settings > Troubleshooting > Reset and Reconfigure Device or if the device is not present yet on the Smart Shades app: Open Left Menu > Add Device
